Our RYA Instructor is Glenys Thompson. She is a keen watersports enthusiast. She participates in many disiplines but is particularly keen on Laser dinghy sailing and jet skiing.
She holds the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Commercial Certificate for both power and sail and has twenty years of boating experience. During which time she has sailed around Britain, the North Sea, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Eastern Seaboard of the United States of America.
Previously she ran a voluntary youth group called Orcel Sea Training, which was the only youth group from Hartlepool to put a youth team in the 2010 Tall Ships Race, which finished in Hartlepool. The aim of the group was to develop young people using the medium of sail training. Over their six year exsistance the group raised £100,000 and took 100's of local young people sailing.
Her long-term partner David Lumley has a charter fishing business based in Hartlepool and she can occasionally be found skippering one of his large catamarans. For their holidays they love to go big game fishing or yacht cruising in the Caribbean.
